Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $151,000)

The purpose of this project is two-fold. The first purpose is to develop a brief five to six-minute video highlighting the successes to date and the challenges ahead for Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) development and utilization. In addition to being shown at the beginning of the Third National SART Training Conference, the video will be made available for attendees and others across the country as an introduction to the SART model and to increase awareness of the benefits of the multidisciplinary, coordinated response to sexual assault.

The second purpose of this project is to provide scholarships to Sexual Assault Response teams across the nation. Scholarships will be made available to communities with financial need to attend the Third National SART Training Conference in teams. Eighteen teams that include four team members from different SART disciplines will be selected. Project funds will be used to provide scholarships of up to $1,000 per individual to be used to pay the conference fee and other related expenses such as hotel accommodations and travel costs.
