Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $300,000)

The purpose of this award, one of several projects funded under the Services for Victims of Human Trafficking Grant Program, is to allow the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles to provide or dispatch legal services for victims of human trafficking as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, as amended. The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles will ensure the provision of direct legal services for foreign national and U.S. citizen victims of trafficking identified or living in the Los Angeles Metropolitan area; will train and assist Legal Services Corporation (LSC) funded entities in California, Washington, and Oregon; and will provide legal assessments and assistance on cases involving large numbers of trafficking victims anywhere in the United States over a two year project period. ca/ncf
