Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $743,042)

The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) is committed to enhancing the nation’s capacity to assist crime victims and provide leadership in changing attitudes, policies, and practices to promote justice and healing for all victims of crime. The OVC FY 2018 Advancing Hospital-Based Victim Services Demonstration Initiative seeks to improve linkages between the victim services field and hospitals and other medical facilities to increase support for victims of crime, improve victim outcomes, reduce chances of further victimization, and provide dedicated technical assistance resources to support these efforts.

With this award, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation will expand the Delta Regional Multidisciplinary Team that responds to allegations of child maltreatment and abuse. The team serves an area with the one of the highest rates of sexual assault against children in the state. OVC funding will allow the team to enhance their partnership with the local Children's Advocacy Center to obtain national accreditation, bring on additional staff to complement the existing team, and improve coordination and collaboration among the team and providers to connect more victims and their families with services.
