Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $550,000)

The primary goal of the FY 2018 Comprehensive Services for All Forms of Victims of Human Trafficking Program is to enhance the quality and quantity of services available to assist victims of human trafficking, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. The Program provides funding to victim service organizations with a demonstrated history of providing comprehensive services for victims of human trafficking. Funding also supports efforts to increase the capacity of communities to respond to human trafficking victims through the development of interagency partnerships, professional training, and public awareness activities.

With this award, and adhering to purpose 3 of the solicitation governing this award, the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI)will develop and administer the Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Services (TAPS) program to provide comprehensive services to newly identified, certification eligible, and certified victims of trafficking and their derivative family members throughout the Des Moines area. TAPS will be accessible to all eligible victims of trafficking, including U.S. national and foreign national victims. For cases and partner needs outside of this service area, USCRI Des Moines will work closely with existing providers to ensure a smooth continuum of care; appropriate and accessible referrals; and alternative training opportunities. USCRI Des Moines’ objectives will ensure high-quality, trauma-informed care and address known gaps to service models throughout Iowa. CA/NCF
