Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $500,000)

Under the FY 2018 Integrated Services for Minor Victims of Trafficking program, all grantees are required to serve all minor victims (boys and girls under age 18) of all forms of human trafficking (sex and labor). The grantee will work with OVC Program Managers and Training and Technical Assistance Providers to ensure all victims are served. Sanctuary for Families, Inc., (SFF) will expand the services provided by their Justice and Empowerment for Teens (JET) Initiative for minor victims of human trafficking. JET delivers a program of holistic, direct services for youth who are victims or at-risk of sex and labor trafficking and their families/caregivers—with a focus on homeless, foster care, immigrant, LGBTQ, and justice system-involved youth, widely acknowledged as the most at-risk youth populations. JET provides crisis intervention; client screenings and intake; intensive case management, safety planning, client advocacy, and referrals; individual and group counseling by licensed clinicians; therapeutic support and empowerment groups; and life skills and self-care workshops. JET’s child-centered, trauma-informed approach, coordinated via outreach and intensive case management, meets victims where they are and maintains a flexible approach to services. JET’s services are leveraged by the comprehensive in-house services legal, workforce, childcare, emergency food and in-kind clothing resources of SFF. JET will serve minor trafficking victims in the five counties of New York City—the Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens, and Richmond. CA/NCF
