Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $1,154,865)

The purpose of this award, funded under the OVC FY 2020 Advancing the Use of Technology to Assist Victims of Crime solicitation, is to support organizations that demonstrate innovative strategies to create, expand, or enhance the use of technology initiatives to improve response, services, and access for victims of crime.

The Medical University of South Carolina will use this award to increase service utilization and capacity for victims and survivors by developing a Toolkit for Transitioning to Tele-Service for Victim Service Providers, so they may learn how to incorporate technology into their current work with crime victims. The online Toolkit will provide five key resources: 1) information about the benefits of tele-service platforms for crime victim service and how tele-services can address barriers to care; 2) strategies for promoting staff engagement in tele-service delivery; 3) information about widely used telehealth platforms; 4) asynchronous practice exercises using the available platforms; and 5) platform-specific resources that can be shared with clients to educate them about tele-service delivery and how to access it.
