This grant award made to Mason City, City of, is funded under OVC FY 2020 Law Enforcement-Based Victim Specialist Program, Purpose Area 1: Small-Agency, which is designed to develop or enhance and sustain crime victim specialist programs within law enforcement agencies and better coordinate services to victims to more quickly and more effectively serve the victim assistance and compensation needs of all crime victims and inform them of their rights as crime victims. The grantee will expand and enhance support to victims of crime within the City of Mason City by hiring a full-time Victim Specialist. The Victim Specialist will connect with primary and secondary victims of crime, provide feedback to officers, and assist with crime mapping and community outreach. The Victim Specialist will make referrals to existing community resources and fill systems gaps by providing direct services. Services will include, but are not limited to crisis intervention, emergency transportation to court or appointments, short-term child or
elder care service, temporary housing/shelter and security measures. CA/NCF
