Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $350,000)

The goal of the FY 2020 Services for Victims of Human Trafficking Programs is to enhance the quality and quantity of services available to victims of human trafficking, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. Funding through this program supports direct services to victims of sex trafficking and labor trafficking, as well as for efforts to increase the capacity of communities to respond to human trafficking through the development of interagency partnerships, professional training, and public awareness activities over a three-year project period. This award made to MHMR of Tarrant County is funded under FY 2020 Services for Victims of Human Trafficking which is designed to MHMR of Tarrant County (MHMR), in collaboration with Unbound Fort Worth (UFW), Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) Human Trafficking Unit, and Advanced Trauma Solutions Professionals LLC. (ATS Pro) will launch the Services for Victims of Human Trafficking (SVHT) Initiative. The SVHT Initiative will build and further strengthen their efforts by: (1) Establishing and sustaining effective leadership and structure to support the successful identification of victims human trafficking; service delivery for victims; and investigation and prosecution of trafficking perpetrators; (2) Increasing the capacity of staff and professionals to identify and respond to victims of human trafficking through training and awareness activities; (3) Providing trauma-informed services for victims of human trafficking within the existing array of services. The Initiative's purpose is to improve the identification and services of human trafficking among youth (up to 18 years), their parents and caregivers, and professionals. The SVHT Initiative will address current human trafficking service gaps by creating a Human Trafficking Identification and Service Protocol. Additionally, the Initiative will adopt and implement select OVC Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) curricula, as well as Trauma Affected Regulation: Guide for Education and Therapy and a variety of other well known and widely used curricula.
