Office of Overseas Citizens Services

The Office of Overseas Citizens Services, Bureau of Consular Affairs, U.S. Department of State is committed to assisting American citizens who become victims of crime while traveling, working, or residing abroad.

Staff are available for emergency assistance 24/7 at embassies, consulates, and consular agencies overseas and in Washington, D.C. To contact the Office of Overseas Citizens Services call 888-407-4747 (from the U.S. or Canada) or 202-501-4444 (from overseas).
 

International Terrorism Victim Expense Reimbursement Program (ITVERP)

ITVERP is a program that provides financial reimbursement for qualifying expenses to qualified U.S. citizens and U.S. government employees who suffered direct physical or emotional injury from an act of international terrorism while outside the United States.

OVC offers online applications for financial support. Visit the ITVERP website for details on who is eligible, what expenses are covered, how to apply, and other information about the program.
 

Victim Reunification Travel Program

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, with support from OVC, provides funds to help left-behind parents in international child abduction cases through its Victim Reunification Travel Program. For assistance, contact them at 800-843-5678.
