Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $750,000)

The Miami-Dade Police Department and International Rescue Committee work to enhance multidisciplinary collaboration among the SFHTTF  whose geographic jurisdiction covers Monroe, Miami-Dade, and Broward counties. Project goals are to: 1) Sustain effective leadership and structure to support the successful identification of victims of all forms of human trafficking, individualized service, and promote the continuous efforts of investigation and prosecution of trafficking perpetrators; 2) Make data-driven decisions based on the prevalence, scope, and nature of human trafficking within  the jurisdiction; 3) Identify victims of all types of human trafficking through coordinated training, public awareness and outreach efforts, and victim-centered screening and interview techniques; 4) Conduct proactive investigations of sex and labor trafficking with the goal of successful prosecution of cases at the state or federal level; and 5) Ensure that a comprehensive array of services are readily available to meet the individualized needs of all victims of human trafficking, including foreign nationals and U.S. citizens, of all ages and sexes.
