Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $284,822)

The purpose of the FY 2018 Enhanced Collaborative Model Task Force To Combat Human Trafficking program is to assist communities in developing effective and sustainable multidisciplinary task forces that will implement victim-centered and coordinated approaches to identifying victims of sex and labor trafficking, addressing the individualized needs of victims through services, and investigating and prosecuting sex and labor trafficking cases (as well as the purchasers of commercial sex) at the local, state, tribal, and federal levels. With this award, the Empowerment Collaborative of Long Island, Inc. will work in partnership with the Suffolk County Police Department to develop the Suffolk County Human Trafficking Task Force. This task force will implement project activities within Suffolk County, New York over a three-year project period. CA/NCF

The purpose of the Enhanced Collaborative Model (ECM) Task Force To Combat Human Trafficking is to assist communities in developing effective and sustainable multidisciplinary task forces that will implement victim-centered and coordinated approaches to identifying victims of sex and labor trafficking, address the individualized needs of victims through services, and investigate and prosecute sex and labor trafficking cases at the local, state, tribal, and federal levels. Supplemental funding through this award will enable the Empowerment Collaborative of Long Island, Inc. to continue to work in partnership with the Suffolk County Police Department to meet the goals and objectives of the Suffolk County Human Trafficking Task Force, which was originally funded in FY 2018. Specifically, this award will support the identification of victims of human trafficking in Long Island, New York and the coordination of a comprehensive array of quality services during years 2 and 3 of a three year project period.
