Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $444,010)

Under the FY 2018 Integrated Services for Minor Victims of Trafficking program, all grantees are required to serve all minor victims (boys and girls under age 18) of all forms of human trafficking (sex and labor). The grantee will work with OVC Program Managers and Training and Technical Assistance Providers to ensure all victims are served. ChildSafe, Bexar County’s only Children’s Advocacy Center, will implement Care Coordination – a 24/7 rapid response through a comprehensive array of services that address the needs of safety, security, and healing for recovered and identified minor victims of human trafficking. Bexar County’s Care Coordination Team (CCT) includes law enforcement, prosecutors, medical providers, service providers, juvenile probation, the Department of Family and Protective Services, placement agencies, advocacy groups, emergency first responders, and more. To ensure that victims are recognized as victims and are treated with trauma-informed services, this project will build the capacity of existing systems and technical assistance for crisis intervention, ongoing case management, and a healthy, supportive relationship for survivors. This project will protect children and youth from being trafficked; help victims recover; restore their sense of well-being; and bring justice to those who exploit children. CA/NCF
