Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $497,546)

Under the FY 2018 Integrated Services for Minor Victims of Trafficking program, all grantees are required to serve all minor victims (boys and girls under age 18) of all forms of human trafficking (sex and labor). The grantee will work with OVC Program Managers and Training and Technical Assistance Providers to ensure all victims are served. Under this project, Empower 225 will support trafficking-specific Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) for minors in five of the nine Lousiana Department of Children and Family Services regions. Project objectives are to: 1) identify a comprehensive array of services that minor victims of human trafficking require to address their needs for safety, security, and healing; 2) work in collaboration with federal, state, and local law enforcement, local service providers, and community- and faith-based organizations to ensure trafficking victims are identified and referred for appropriate services; 3) reintegrate and support healthy family members or caregivers of minor trafficked victims, as appropriate; 4) conduct trainings and public awareness activities for professionals and community members to improve their knowledge of human trafficking and their ability to identify and respond to victims; and 5) conduct data collection and action research activities to determine if the program is meeting stated goals and objectives.
