Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $373,851)

The goal of the FY 2020 Housing Assistance Grants for Victims of Human Trafficking Program is to support housing assistance for victims of all forms of human trafficking throughout the United States, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. Funding through this solicitation supports programs that provide 6 to 24 months of transitional housing with support services to victims of human trafficking who are in need of housing as a result of human trafficking. Funding will be provided over a three-year project period. The THRVE Program within the Transitional Housing Program (THP) at the YWCA Central Massachusetts will create an option for supported housing for women who are early in the process of exiting the sex trade. The goal of this program is to provide safe, supportive housing to up to 15 victims of human trafficking over the course of the grant period, so that victims have the time and space needed to address barriers that prevent them from finding safety, autonomy, and housing stability. To accomplish this goal, the YWCA will designate five units of housing for victims of trafficking and will partner with LIFT, experts in field of addressing systems of prostitution and sex trafficking for survivors, to provide case management. Each participant, with help from the LIFT Case Manager, will create an Individual Service Plan (ISP) outlining their goals for sustaining recovery from substance use disorder, managing chronic mental illness, and creating healthy relationships. Participants will also be able to attend LIFT community groups, which will cover topics such as healthy relationship building, managing trauma, managing grief, and paths to recovery from substance use disorders. The goal of the program is for each participant to be able to move into permanent housing within two years. CA/NCF
