Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $337,858)

The goal of the FY 2020 Services for Victims of Human Trafficking Programs is to enhance the quality and quantity of services available to victims of human trafficking, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. Funding through this program supports direct services to victims of sex trafficking and labor trafficking, as well as for efforts to increase the capacity of communities to respond to human trafficking through the development of interagency partnerships, professional training, and public awareness activities over a three-year project period. This award is made to Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc., and is funded under the Services for Victims of Human Trafficking solicitation which is designed to provide direct services to victims of human trafficking.

Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) will use OVC funding to build CPLC's capacity to identify victims of human trafficking and address their specific needs. Activities will include 1) Staff and Partner Training and 2) Development of Advisory Board and Human Trafficking Victim Comprehensive Strategic Service Plan. In years 2 and 3 of the project, the plan developed in year 1 will be implemented, under the guidance of the Project Lead. The project anticipates identifying, at minimum, 40 victims of sex and/or labor trafficking and providing full comprehensive services for, at minimum, 20 victims internally or through well developed community partnerships.
