Elder abuse is one of the least discussed yet most heartbreaking forms of family violence.

This Justice Clearinghouse webinar explores how and why it happens through the lens of the Opportunity to Abuse Theory and examines the factors that make older adults more vulnerable. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the different forms of abuse, common victim and perpetrator patterns, and the lasting emotional and physical effects on victims, as well as the hidden impact on children and other family members.

The session also highlights the unique challenges faced in rural communities, the connection between animal cruelty and elder abuse, and practical ways to improve detection, reporting, and prevention efforts.
