Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $749,970)

The American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Training and Technical Assistance Program will provide resources and coordination to increase AI/AN tribal communities ability to provide comprehensive and culturally appropriate services to crime victims, their families, and the community. Using a victim-centered approach, designed to foster dignity and spiritual, mental, and physical health in victims, their families, and the community, the Unified Solutions will assist OVC in supporting the training and technical assistance needs of AI/AN communities that receive grant funds under Purpose Area 7 (Children's Justice Act Partnerships for Indian Communities) and Purpose Area 8 (Comprehensive Tribal Victim Assistance Program) of the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation (CTAS).

Specifically, Unified Solutions will conduct the following activities in order to assist OVC with providing resources and coordination to AI/AN communities with enhancing and developing appropriate responses to victims: 1)assist grantees in conducting comprehensive needs assessments and developing logic models and strategic plans; 2) develop and implement a strategic plan to respond to support request; 3)provide coordination, logistics, and onsite meeting support for training events; 4) develop a system for receiving, tracking, and responding to requests for training and technical assistance (TTA); 5) develop, implement, and provide culturally appropriate training and TTA on victim services issues; 6) identify and maintain a cadre of experts who can deliver training and TA; 7) develop an assessment plan; and, 8) conduct special projects as directed by OVC.
