Helping And Lending Outreach Support (HALOS)

HALOS's mission is to provide resources and special opportunities to abused and neglected children and their caregivers through partnerships with faith-based and other community organizations. OVC produced a HALOS toolkit, which offers lessons learned and suggests strategies for establishing programs like HALOS wherever foster families and relatives need additional support for the children in their care.

Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention: Statistical Briefing Book (SBB)

The SBB enables users to access statistics on juvenile victimization and youth involved in the juvenile justice system. The SBB provides timely and reliable statistical answers to the most frequently asked questions from policymakers, the media, and the general public. In addition, the data analysis and dissemination tools available through SBB give users quick and easy access to detailed statistics on a variety of juvenile justice topics.

National Children's Alliance

National Children's Alliance provides training, technical assistance, and networking opportunities to communities seeking to plan, establish, and improve children's advocacy centers.

Polly Klaas Foundation

The Polly Klaas Foundation is a national nonprofit dedicated to the safety of all children, the recovery of missing children, and public policies that keep children safe in their communities.

Childstats.gov

This website offers easy access to statistics and reports on children and families, including family and social environment, economic circumstances, health care, physical environment and safety, behavior, education and health. The Federal Interagency Forum on Child and Family Statistics fosters coordination, collaboration, and integration of federal efforts to collect and report data on conditions and trends for children and families.

Department of Defense: Family Advocacy Program

The Family Advocacy Program serves as a resource for military families experiencing family violence by promoting healthy family relationships; encouraging early identification and prompt reporting; promoting victim safety and empowerment; and providing appropriate support to service members, their partners, and their family members

National Center on Child Fatality Review and Prevention

This organization supports a nationwide system of child fatality review and infant mortality review teams to improve the health, safety and well-being of children and reduce preventable child fatalities and severe injuries.

National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center

The Center is devoted to achieving a better understanding the scope, nature, and mental health impact of exposure to crime and other traumatic events. The Center strives to improve the mental health of victims of crime and other traumatic events through research, education, prevention, treatment, public policy consultation, and collaboration.

Yale Center for Traumatic Stress and Recovery

The Center provides trauma-informed treatments and services to children and families, builds professional knowledge through clinical research, and advances the field of child trauma treatment through collaboration, training, and dissemination.

Survivors of Incest Anonymous

Survivors of Incest Anonymous is a 12-step self-help recovery program for adult survivors of child sexual abuse. This organization offers free support groups for victims of incest or abuse by a teacher, coach, another child, clergy, or anyone that betrayed the child’s trust.

Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN)

RAINN operates a 24-hour hotline for English- and Spanish-speaking survivors of sexual assault (call 800-656-HOPE, text HOPE to 64673, or chat online). RAINN provides a safe, secure, and anonymous place for victims to get help. RAINN also works to promote education and prevention of sexual assault and compiles and shares links to legal resources, including the State Mandatory Regulations regarding children and the elderly.

Prevent Child Abuse America

Prevent Child Abuse America promotes prevention strategies and provides advocacy, programs, resources, and answers to commonly asked questions about child abuse and neglect.

National CASA/GAL Association for Children

This organization provides advocacy, public education, and resources for court appointed special advocate (CAS) and guardian ad litem (GAL) programs across the country. The association also trains CASA and GAL volunteers, who work to find safe, permanent homes for abused and neglected children.

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC)

NCMEC works to locate and recover missing children and raises public awareness about ways to prevent child abduction, molestation, and sexual exploitation. NCMEC offers a 24-hour, toll free hotline, 800-THE-LOST (800-843-5678), a CyberTipline to collect leads from the public, and online resources on finding missing children and assisting families.

International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect

The International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect supports individuals and organizations working toward the protection of child rights and the prevention and treatment of child abuse, neglect, and exploitation through publications, congresses, professional training events, and worldwide activities.

Futures Without Violence

Futures Without Violence offers resources for healthcare professionals, employers, educators, policy leaders, advocates, survivors, and others seeking information on domestic and sexual violence, harassment, stalking, human trafficking, and child abuse.

Child Welfare Information Gateway

A service of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Child Welfare Information Gateway promotes the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and families by providing publications, research, and learning tools selected by experts to support thriving children, youth, families, and communities.

Childhelp

Childhelp is dedicated to the treatment and prevention of child abuse. The website includes information on nationwide facilities, helpful links, programs, and child abuse reports. Call or text the National Child Abuse Hotline at 800-4-A-CHILD (800-422-4453) or use their online chat if you suspect that a child is being abused or neglected, or if you are a child who is being mistreated.

Child Find of America

This nonprofit charity works to locate missing children for free and works to prevent child abduction. Child Find performs investigations, distributes photos, mediates, and disseminates information to the public. In-house location staff can be reached by calling 800-I-AM-LOST (800-426-5678). Parents in conflict can call 800-716-3468 to access comprehensive information and referrals from the Parent Help program.

U.S. Department of Justice: Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS)

CEOS works to combat incidences of child exploitation and trafficking of women and children. Issues under the CEOS umbrella include child pornography, illegal interstate or international transportation of women and children, international parental abduction, computer-related exploitation of children, and child victimization on federal and Indian lands.

Bureau of Justice Statistics: Victims of Crime
