The Victim Offender Dialogue (VOD) is a facilitated process that allows victims and survivors of violent crime to seek answers to questions that only the offender can provide. It also offers a space to share the impact and trauma of their victimization directly with the offender.
VOD is strictly victim-initiated, victim-centered, and victim-driven. Offenders participate on a voluntary basis.
This Justice Clearinghouse webinar will walk through the fundamentals of the VOD process—from initial preparation through the face-to-face dialogue. It will emphasize the importance of giving victims and survivors an additional voice as they navigate their journey toward healing.
A survivor will share her experience after losing a loved one to an impaired driver, including her VOD experience and how it shaped her healing journey. The VOD facilitator will also share insights on self-care and vicarious trauma from the practitioner’s perspective.
A VOD is far more than a meeting—it’s an opportunity for profound human connection.
